How tīrama works
We buy electricity when it costs less, store it in a battery at your home, and use it when power would otherwise cost more.
A day at your place
Overnight, 2am
While you sleep, we buy power when it costs less and store it in your battery.
That is what makes your lower power rate possible.
The model, in order

1
Buy when it’s cheaper
We buy electricity from the grid when it costs less, usually at night.
2
Stored at your home
The electricity is stored in a single 15.36 kWh battery, the same in every home.
3
Used when it’s needed
The stored power carries your home through the morning and the evening, when power would otherwise cost more.
4
A share of earnings
Unused stored power is sold back to the grid, and a share of what it earns is credited to your bill.
5
